Last year, Courbevoie councilor Arash Derambarsh started a campaign against wastage and destruction of edible food . The petition stated that supermarkets must not destroy or throw away unused food rather they must donate it to food banks and charity. Now French Senate has made this campaign a law without any exception. All the supermarkets with a size of 400 sq ft or larger will have to abide by this law otherwise a penalty of 3750 Euros is set for the perpetrators. Mr Derambarsh now aims to convince other European countries and rest of the world to opt for this approach.
