ANTWERP: As the World Hockey League last eight line up completes, Pakistan is all set to face Great Britain in quarter finals of the tournament on Wednesday (Today) at Antwerp, Belgium.
Pakistan finished third in pool A after playing a second consecutive 2-2 draw against France. Green shirts were to play pool B’s second-placed team in quarters.
Pakistan had a disappointing tournament so far as they had a solitary win in first game against Poland and two 2-2 draws against arch-rivals India and France; Pakistan also faced a 6-1 humiliating defeat against mighty Australia.
Pakistan has to win this crunch game of quarter-final to qualify in Olympics.
Pakistan coach Shahnaz Shaikh said “It is a ‘do or die’ situation for us, forgetting past mistakes we need to focus on next encounter with Britain, they are strong team but we have to win this game at all cost.”
The quarter-finals lineup, all of which take place on July 1, now reads like this:
Australia v Ireland (4:00 PM PST)
India v Malaysia (9:00 PM PST)
Pakistan v Great Britain (7:00 PM PST)
France v Belgium (11:30 PM)
